Perfect Plate 2021 is a new competition run for ClubsNSW member clubs across the state.
It is designed to showcase the best in club dining and highlight the many talented chefs working in the industry.
In previous years, the competition has been run as an internal industry program only (Chef’s Table), with no involvement from patrons.
This year, ClubsNSW has collaborated with a specialist promo company SL Interactive to create a new and exciting competition that involves clubs as well as their members.
To enter, clubs will be required to create a special competition dish* which will be listed on their menu for the duration of the competition (29 April - 21 June 2021).
Clubs enter their dish via an online registration form through the perfectplate.com.au website, including the following:
- Name of dish
- Chef name
- Sale price
- Image of dish
*The dish must be a full-priced main meal item with no discount.
Clubs with multiple eateries are permitted to enter a different dish for each restaurant, if they wish (scores will be tallied individually for each restaurant – not collectively, as a club group)
Clubs will be broken down into 13 regions, and into Small, Medium and Large categories overall, based on membership numbers:
- Small = 0 - 5,000
- Medium = 5,001 – 30,000
- Large = 30,001+
Clubs are encouraged to update their membership figures with the MEC to ensure accuracy of category placement
ClubsNSW will impose entry thresholds for each category to ensure fairness of overall scoring (these thresholds will not be disclosed to ensure the integrity of the competition)
Once a club reaches a certain number of entries, they will then officially be eligible to compete.
Entries for member clubs opens Monday 23 March and closes 19 April 2021
ClubsNSW will distribute marketing collateral to participating clubs to assist with in-house promotion of their dish and the competition
Diners will be encouraged to purchase the club’s competition dish, scan a QR code (unique to that club) and fill out the online voting form. As part of the voting process, diners will be required to complete mandatory data collection fields, including name, phone number, email, an image upload of the purchaser’s receipt, and a rating for the dish between 1.0 and 5.0
For diners who do not have Smartphones or would prefer not to use the digital entry form, each club will be given paper forms. The diner must attach their receipt to the form as proof of purchase and leave it with the club. The club will then manually input the data into the digital system to align all entries.
Diners are only permitted to vote once per venue (duplicate votes will not be counted)
Diners are permitted and encouraged to travel to multiple venues within their region to try the club dishes and vote (all unique votes will be counted towards the diner’s overall tally).
Incentives for diners: dining vouchers on offer for patrons who visit the most clubs and vote for the competition dishes throughout the duration of the campaign.
Diner voting commences on Friday 29 April and ends Monday 21 June 2021.
At the end, all votes are tallied to determine the winners from each region, and the overall winners of the Small, Medium and Large categories: Scores will be tallied up based on the average rating multiplied by the number of votes received.
The club with the highest overall score in each region will win that region.
The club with the highest overall score in their own category (Small, Medium or Large) will win that category.
At the end, all votes are also tallied to determine the club diner award winners in each region, as well as the overall winner:
The diner with the highest number of unique votes in each region will be deemed the winner of each region.
The diner with the highest number of unique votes overall will be deemed the overall Club Diner Award winner.
Awards night will be held at Doltone House in Pyrmont (date to be confirmed later)

Head to perfectplate.com.au anytime between 23 March and 19 April 2021 to register.
Read through the competition information carefully and create a dish that can be added to the in-club menu for 7 weeks.
Login and fill out the online entry form, completing all mandatory fields. Once done, start preparing marketing collateral to promote your dish to your members.
All competition entries and diner votes are actively monitored by a team of independent scrutineers to ensure there are no suspicious voting patterns or duplicate entries from the same patron.
If duplicate entries from individual diners are detected, they will be removed from their overall voting tally.
If a pattern of suspicious votes emerges for a club/clubs, an investigation into the source of those votes will be carried out. If it is found that a club/employee has attempted to forge/duplicate votes to enhance the venue’s overall score, that venue will be disqualified from the competition.
